Even a cursory view of the business pages would let you know that across all industries the volume of M&A transactions has been falling over the past few months. When I visited this subject last summer, transaction volumes in the consulting sector – especially in Europe – were not following this trend with some considerable ‘buoyancy’. However, since then European volumes have fallen back in line with the USA, with growth for both in the final quarter, but well below the post-Covid recovery in 2022. This sector, though, continues to be stronger than the economy in general, which is good news for owners and investors in this sector.
